From John G0RDO, SKCC #2133T

Great fun and 15m open for quite a long time.

Had a 20ft vertical fishing pole with loading coil at the base - mounted about 3ft above ground, running 100 watts and the key was a Marconi Test Key from about 1907. Fun to use but had scratchy contacts that were hard to cure.

Reverted to my trusty Marconi PS No213A key towards the end.

Fun! Looking forward to the next WES. Tnx to all. 73

From Dick K2HT, SKCC #5087T

Thanks for the QSO's. Little short on time to operate in the WES this weekend. Used a Lionel J-36 bug which was gift from KB0QZ. The bug and operator are the same age!

From Neal KA1SAW, SKCC #2824T

Had FUN as usual during the WES. A lot of good contacts including many of the K3Y Stations.

Great weekend. Met many early members. Thanks to everyone for a great spring. '73 Lee

From Joe WS9E, SKCC #3859T

Lots of activity on Sunday evening, when I got on. I worked several new numbers.

I used the Icom 7410 and the stealth dipole. The key is my Chinese People's Liberation Army key which I am trying to get adjusted so it is comfortable. I'm making progress, but I'm not there yet.

Thanks for the contacts. Happy New Year

From Phil KB0ETU, SKCC #4542T

Too nice of a weekend to stay inside. Lots to do outside with a few places to go. Not many contacts, but better than none at all. Happy New Year to all. Used K-2 with dipole up 35 feet. Hope to see you in the NAQCC sprint this week.

72/73, Phil

From Jim N3ADF, SKCC #6459T

Thank you Founders & for the Special Stations coming out for this WES. 4 out of my 9 QSOs were SPCs. Not bad for S & P while only on the regular WES bands for 2:20 hrs. and working the K3Y/s also. Lots of fun.

From CURT KB5JO, SKCC #2027T

Another fun sprint.

From Ed N7EDK, SKCC #7534T

Well, a busy weekend around the house, only squeezed in 2 contacts. One early Sat, and just before WES ended.

Both on 20 m with the KX1 at 3 watts into a dipole.

See everyone next WES.....73

From Steve VK7CW, SKCC #10820T

Unfortunately I just had not time this weekend to participate in the WES, but managed to work 1 stn, JI3CJP, tnx Kan for the QSO. Hopefully I will more time for the next WES.

From Werner N8BB, SKCC #5433S

Don't know where the Senator box went but guess at 1 contact I am not to fussy. I had major water problems here this week and was out most of the day pulling my deep well out of the pipe and replacing it, good news, I now have good water pressure and can finally take a good shower! Thanks to K3Y/1 aka KX1NH Randy for my 1 contact running 1 watt from my KX3.

From Ray KJ4LEN, SKCC #6956T

Only had about 45 minutes to work the sprint but it was fun. I'll see everyone next time. Ray

From Gary KF7WNS, SKCC #9895

Saturday was ruff, had to run the gauntlet of KW stations with my peanut whistle. Best contacts were RI on 15M and CT on 20M. It's exciting when you get through the pile-up with 5 watts. See you next month.

From Steve AI9IN, SKCC #8759T

Seriously, it's time to add a box for scoring Senators.

From Scott N3JJT, SKCC #255T

I had a very good time this WES. I worked some old friends that I have not worked in awhile. 40 was very good to me. 80 was rough Saturday night. Thanks to Dana, AD5VC for pulling me out of the mud! It was also nice being worth 35 points! Ten Tec Jupiter and Eagle. '71 Vibroplex Original, 74 Champion and a '53 Champion to either a G5RV or my Butternut Vertical.

See ya next time..73 Scott

From Rick K7CHS, SKCC #8573T

I suspect that Gordon, N6WK, had the lowest SKCC number ever passed to me. Worked him several times, will miss him, am sure others will. Perhaps the SKCC could create a Gordon Benjamin award for something significant.

From RON VE3FMW, SKCC #10702C

What a great idea to feature "the originals" in the first sprint of the year; it was fun to look for the low numbers and I was glad to be able log 11 of them.

Some curious band conditions limited the Q-tally, but it was an enjoyable few hours all the same, and I managed to finish my "T" total during the weekend.

Hope to see you all in the next sprintathon.

73 & all the best in 2014 ...

From JIM KC7QY, SKCC #4323T

Rough condx - lots of stations running on WARC (non-WES) bands. Local power line noise pretty well wiped out Saturday evening (Sun AM UTC). Next month will be better! Thanks to those who heard me through the din.

Key is my original Nye Speed-X, bought when I was in grade school - long ago - to learn Morse.

From Carl AA5VE, SKCC #8863T

Thanks to all that participated. I had a great time.

73's

From Charlie KB1UOH, SKCC #7560T

Again it was fun.

From Frank W4HAY, SKCC #678T

Relearning to use a bug after 35 years on paddles ain't easy, folks. Hope those I worked will excuse my "banana boat swing"!

Great WES, even though other duties took up most of my weekend.

From AL N4OW, SKCC #11375T

Great fun. 15 meters was hoppin' on Sunday !

From Jose VE3DTI, SKCC #7020C

From Dave KI8JY, SKCC #10751

I want to thank all the SKCC members that I worked during this event, and those behind the scenes who made it possible. I log all SKCC QSO's in QRZ, eQSL and LoTW in case these entries might help you in your pursuit of other (non-SKCC) operating awards, or for those who just want or like these additional forms of QSL - 73, Dave KI8JY Beavercreek, OH

From Chris WB9G, SKCC #9820C

As always, a great time. I wish I had more time to operate this weekend, but it was not to be. Thanks for the QSOs. 73 de Chris, WB9G

From ED KG4W, SKCC #2416S

Used max of 200 watts. Concentrated on 160,80,15 & 10 which is where I needed to increase my Prefix totals. As always, an enjoyable event.

From Alan KI6FCT, SKCC #9947T

Another fun WES. I'm trying to wean myself from the paper log, and use logger while operating. Hard to do for a newer cw operator, but I made some good progress! John in Texas, sorry I lost our QSO in the mayhem! Thanks to all the first members for building a great club! Alan

From Ken WA2FBN, SKCC #8884

Tnx to all who heard my 4watts and dipole , especially Gabor (S57WJ) - 1000+ miles/watt. Fun event.

From mike K8NS, SKCC #10580T

Working the K3Y/ stations provided a interesting twist to this WES. Hats off to the operators at W8TQE-K3Y/8. I operated all bands 10 thru 160, and this is the 1st WES that I never called CQ. S&P and sked page requests is sure a lot more fun. 73 es tnx qso to all.

From Mike N5YG, SKCC #6304T

Missed that big signal from CA and the wonderful fist as well. RIP Gordon. 73 de AR

From ED W7GVE, SKCC #729T

Very slow start as 20 and 15 were wiped out with the NA contest -- 40 was also covered by the NA, but we have an escape on 40 by going to the old novice section--- Not much DX worked on this one but still a lot of fun-- I went up to 14.150 and called CQ but no luck-- 73 CU fir the next one - 73 - ED-- W7GVE

Wished I'd had more time to work the WES but Duty calls and got to keep the power on(coal won't convert to electricity by it self) so I had to go to work. Thanks to all who I worked. I thought the bands were in pretty good shape for QRP.

Not much time to operate. 40 meters showed most contacts. S57WJ (Gabor), LW3EX (Walt) and of course Bert, F6HKA was my best DX. Thanks to all and 73.

From Lee K1LEE, SKCC #7246T

Vy fb Sprint, as usual. Only a few west coast qso''''s from CT this time, but any time I can get multis up to half the qso total, I''''m happy. Quite a few K3Y''''s this time, plus a lot of low-number old-timers. Thanks to all!

Looking forward to the next one. Vy 73 for 2014, Lee K1LEE

From John K0FTC, SKCC #2227T

Glad someone mentioned the WARC bands, I went back and corrected WES log, which only dropped me by one QSO. It was a lot of fun. Some new members as well as those working on "C"s and "T"s, even "S"s. I tried the search and pounce for a while allowed for in the rules for a K3Y, but it threw some folks off, so I stopped doing it. These events and awards programs really provide an incentive (at least to me) to get on the air and use the SK. Thanks to the SKCC volunteers who make all of this happen. 73, John K0FTC

From Art WB8ENE, SKCC #3773T

I was more or less just looking for K3Y stations this weekend, and added 5 more to my collection. Was busy this weekend; went to see the musical "Chicago" in Cleveland on Saturday, and spent some time with my granddaughter on Sunday. Thanks to all for the contacts. See you next time. 73, Art

From Larry AH6AX, SKCC #11165T

Enjoyed it. Next time, I hope to have more time to devote to WES! Aloha from MD!

From Art WK2S, SKCC #9434T

Good theme, 16 contacts with #s under 2545, many new. Good fun even though the bands were choppy.

Thanks to all.

From Wes W1LIC, SKCC #1142T

Conditions were fair. NA contest caused some challenges on Saturday. Always good to work members for the first time. I wish K3Y stations wouldn't operate on WARC bands during WES so we could work them.

From BOB AA6AC, SKCC #6276T

January 2014 WES was fun even if there were a few contests to avoid. 15 meters did brunt of work. Did find some DX Japan, Uruguay, and France. Was hoping to hear K3Y/KH6 WH7TT but alas no propagation to my QTH (Oxnard, Ca.) Did find a few new founders. Which brings to mind N6WT Gordon 3S passing 2014. RIP. He was my contact for SKCC.

rock bound DX20 on 80 and 40, ARC5 receivers with the last unused diode of the 6SR7 as a second mixer, allowing the use of a BC453 second IF. not being in Seattle and operating in the middle of Ohio is wonderful!!!

great to see the grandkids too!!!

From JOHN K8JD, SKCC #1395T

This time I only had about 5 hours to operate .

I decided to use only my straight key and only used my bug for one DX QSO.

I also limited myself to my Butternut vertical and 40M loop for my QSOs except just a few on 10M with my monoband Yagi.

Had fun while I could.

From Joe K4NVJ, SKCC #393T

Limited time to participate. But it was fun while it lasted.

From Greg WA1VIL, SKCC #443T

Spent too much of what was too little operating time chasing the elusive AS/OC/AF stations running QRP. Special thanks to Max in HI and Walt in ARG for digging out my puny signal and to Colin VA7WWV for the 2xQRP. Glad I could give out my "low" number to the stations I worked. Looking forward to Pete's next devilish bonus scheme for the February WES.

From Bill W0EJ, SKCC #10440T

Thanks to all for a good WES, hope to have more time next one. 73

From KEN VE7KBN/W7, SKCC #5533T

From Mark K7MJG, SKCC #9295

Only one contact, but I do enjoy listening every WES.

From JOHN K8BAT, SKCC #10395T

This was another enjoyable sprint. I was able to make 52 contacts to 24 states, two Canadian provinces, and Bert's signal from France was strong.

But my greatest thrill was to make contact with Eduardo (CX1JK), from Montevideo, Uruguay. He was 5,332 miles away from central Ohio. I heard him on 15 meters using only 85w.

See you next month!

From Tim WS8K, SKCC #9953T

From George NC5G, SKCC #9891C

First WES in a couple of months and only was able to operate the last three hours. Still, lots of fun.

From Randy KB4QQJ, SKCC #3508T

That was fun as always. Made a few new friends and heard a lot of the regulars. Highlight was working Mari in Uruguay. Mari had a great signal into NC and was new contact for me. Also my first SKCC Uruguay and first SKCC YL DX! Heard my old friend Walt, LW3EX again..been a while Walt and thought you may have moved or something...heh heh Bands were strange but very good. Great to see W4FOA and K0LUW. I think I've missed them the last couple of events.Got to put about 3 hours into this one so I was Happy.

Thanks to all the K3Y ops and the folks that put on the WES. Fun event.

And a Special Thanks to Gordon, NW6K for his part in starting it all, Godspeed Gordon.

73 for now,

From Ed WH7TT, SKCC #11384

This is both for WH7TT and as the Special Event Call K3Y/KH6

From Dave W3NP, SKCC #3182S

After spending a lot of time the past week or so as a K3Y/8 operator I didn't work the WES as much as usual. I did some rig maintenance and some moving around of gear, so every time I made a change, I would make a few WES q's. I got my new K3/P3 rig integrated into my main station and some dabbling in the WES helped me to familiarize myself with it.

Had fun and it was a relaxing weekend. 73 de West Viginia

From Randy KC5HNH, SKCC #11461
