From Bernard F5DE, SKCC #6247T

I had not more than two hours to be active during this WES,

then the result is very low.

But I am glad to have had my 25th WES participation since my membership in January 2010 !

Hope to meet many other SKCC friends during this K3Y event month and next SKSE and WES in 2012.

Thank you all for listening to my little sigs in the noise.

73 everybody !

From Art KB1NHV, SKCC #2775

Was nice to see so much activity, 15, 20 and 80 meters were great! Was thrilled to work France and 19 states including AK and many K3Y stations. Great weekend!

From Ed N7EDK, SKCC #7534

Another fun WES, combined with the K3Y ! One 10 m contact, a couple on 15 m, one on 40 and the rest on 20 m. Conditions were pretty fair for the most part. In the last 2 minutes of the WES, I got LW3EX in Argentina (3804T) on 15 m, a first for me !! Thanks again to everyone and we'll see you next month. Happy New Year ! Ed

From Tim KD1W, SKCC #6389

From BERT K6CSL, SKCC #4486

This was fun. I don't often get a Saturday and Sunday to just devote to WES. It's such a friendly group, unlike many contests. Bert, K6CSL

From Mike W5EHM, SKCC #6304T

Too much football and too much RTTY QRM limited operating time but still lots of WES fun! Thanks to all!

Mike

From CURT KB5JO, SKCC #2027

A fun event, though I didn't have a lot of time to participate. Especially good combined with the K3Y special event.

From Rick K0KEX, SKCC #5220T

The January WES marks two years as a member of SKCC with 23 WES sprints logged. I reflect on the past and what I have learned as being a part of this group since January 2009. The friendships made as well as new members logged from all over the world from the association with SKCC has been great. This WES 6 bands worked 160 thru 10, Looking forward to the next one...Thanks to all ...73 Rick

Had some great fun even though I could only operate casually in small blocks of time. Great operators all the way around! Was glad to work John, ZS6JBJ in South Africa too.

Thanks for all contacts. Propagation was not so good. Hope to see you soon. 73's Philippe.

From Art WB8ENE, SKCC #3773T

I thought I'd try QRP again. Used my K3 at 5 watts, and it made me want to bring out the Rockmite and finally build an enclosure for it. Thanks for the contacts. Most were easy, but thanks for hanging in there Dave (K3Y/5 - 5081T), and struggling to pull out my signal. 73/72, Art

From JOHN K4BAI, SKCC #3280

Good activity and good conditions 80 through 15M. Heard no activity on 10M. Happy New Year for all and thanks for the QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI.

From Jerry KD5JHE, SKCC #1976T

Maybe the best WES I have played in. Not such a high score, but had more time to operate. Lots of fun. Even picked up some new K3Y stations. Thanks for the qso's. 73

From Dan W9DLN, SKCC #3635T

Spent whole WES as K3Y/9. 73, GL, HNY...

From Phil KB0ETU, SKCC #4542T

Where were all the sunspots? I found the bands almost dead except for the RTTYers. Not my best WES, but there's alway's next month. Started sprint using my K-2 Saturday night, and Sunday I switched to my Jupiter with it turned down to 5 watts. A little less QRM with the Jupiter. And with that.......Happy New Year to one and all. 72/73, Phil

From Chris KE4WKH, SKCC #6599

Divided my time between the ARRL RTTY Roundup and the WES. Enjoyed both but WES is my favorite. Thanks to all my contacts and the SKCC group.

From BRION VE3FUJ, SKCC #4936T

Good Sprint enough said. Thanks to all who heard my meager 4999mW or less signal, if anyone feel I missed them, I'm sorry. Apology to W4UCZ, I have a rule that I can't make Qso with the same station 2x in a row, and I had to get another stn in between even though we were on another band, sorry Mark. From Eldon W0SZV, SKCC #4999T

weekend too busy had fun 2 contacts one 33 miles away on 40m. now back to working k3y

From Fred WA5BUC, SKCC #6692

Worked several other SKCCers, but not sure if they were in the WES. Overall, I concentrated on missing K3Y Q's. January has been a great SKCC month. I operate QRP with a simple inverted L antenna. Want to encourage others with similar setups to join in the fun. 72's de Houston.

From Alan WA1AR, SKCC #4079T

Busy weekend, too many activities, football, K3Y sweep hunt, Arrl RTTY. I concentrated the SKCC activity toward completing the sweep. I monitored the K3UK site and sat on the reported frequencies until I got them done. Not the most eficient way to accumulate the maximum number of QSOs but I completed the 12 sweep. Now I need to fill in 3 of the DX areas for the full sweep.

Alan

From Joe WS9E, SKCC #3859T

I did not operate much this wekend. I did manage to put some new members in the log. The bands seemed a bit noisy. I made contacts on 20, 80 and the novice portion of 40, away from the RTTY signals. I used the dipole, Orion and the Chinese military key. See you next time.

From Rick WB8YXF, SKCC #8053T

Thanks to all I had a QSO with. It was fun to call CQ and have several come back to me.... Happy New Year and God Bless, till the next time.

From ED W7GVE, SKCC #729T

many folks up there...CU next month

From Doug N3PDT, SKCC #6861T

Worked this month's WES in bits and pieces. Worked quite a few new-to-me stations. Thanks to fellow MO Outlaws Slim and Mark. Good to hear you guys. Been awhile since you've made it my sprint logs. As usual, lots of fun. Now, back to K3Y...

From Dean NW2K, SKCC #7330T

Sked page was packed and SKCC activity was across the bands. Missed Saturday night and a good fraction of Sunday, as the weather has been un-winter like and got to some chores. Thanks to all for the QSOs and see you next time. 75W, matchbox, 80M loop at 30 feet.

From Dave W3NP, SKCC #3182T

I thought that condx were not spectacular although they have been worse. I didn't spend as much time on the WES due to the time I have spent the past week or so as K3Y/8 - the XYL has her limits!!!! I did find myself signing K3Y/8 a lot at first. I ran my Ten Tec Eagle at about 4.8 watts for the entire event. Keys this time were the Vibroplex "Anni" and a Nye Master Key. Of course the ambiguous RTTY signals pretty much ruined the lower portion of 40 for most of the event. I spent most of my time on 20 and 80 with a few Q's on 15 and a little bit on the 7115 portion of 40. I am proud to be part of a group that has regular operating events, has fun, and does not make the band(s) unusable for the rest of the hamdom by confining activity to specific portions of the bands. Look for me as K3Y/8 the rest of the month and I may devote some time slots to 17, 12, and perhaps 12 meters. Also 160. I usually run a whooping 100 watts or so when K3Y/8. 73 and a Happy New Year to all...Dave - W3NP ..... PS: My photo shows my cat "Cooper" and her little "nest" on the left side. She spends a lot of time with me when I am pounding brass.

From Alex PA1FOX, SKCC #8265

I was mostly active at the start, late saturday evening for me. There was a nice spot on 40m which I found and was called by quite some stations on this frequency. I enjoyed it a lot and made good progress towards my C. Tnx, all

From Gabor S57WJ, SKCC #7979C

This was my 3rd WES and the with the highest score so far.

CU in next one!

From John G0RDO, SKCC #2133T

Good fun with a straight key again but conditions did not seem too good - probably not helped by my in-town QTH and small MA6V vertical antenna. Morse key used was a Marconi PS No213A, ex coast station GKA Portishead Radio, England.

From Dan WB3KBW, SKCC #8249

From Joe KD2JC, SKCC #710T

Another nice sprint. Wish I had more time. Too many distractions. Happy New Year and 73

From Slim WA0BGV, SKCC #5465T

Another great SKCC event! This month marks the third year that I have been a member. After many years away from real amateur radio(CW), I have renewed some skills and come to enjoy the hobby as much as, or maybe more than I did back 50 years ago when I bacame an Amateru Radio operator. Those were the good ole days and I am happy to be able to add my recent activity in the SKCC events in with those good ole day memories.

Up until this event I have been using several straight keys for these sprints. For this sprint I got out my Vibroplex bug that I bought new back 50 years ago and limbered it up for a few QSOs. I had to slow it down some so that I could control the beast but it was great fun.

Worked som of my Missouri Outlaw friends N0UMP, KI0I, K0KEX, N3PDT and even W0CLR who in one of the newest Outlaws to join the gang. Great to work you, Jerry!

Hope the new year brings happiness to all.

Worked members on 10-80M. Just couldn't pull any signals out of the noise on 160M. Used my FT840 at 75W and Vibroplex Original with a 16 penney nail extention on the pendulum to slow it down to about 13-15 wpm. I look forward to seeing everyone in SKS. Ray

From Tony W2HWW, SKCC #4488T

A challenge this weekend running 1W with all the RTTY signals on the bands. But a nice enjoyable sprint nonetheless. 20M seemed particularly good during the daylight hours.

From George N3GJ, SKCC #8797

That was a lot of fun! It's been years since I sent that much CW with the straight key. It was great to work everyone and thanks to all for the welcomes I got when they rcvd my new number. On 80m I used my homebrew 6L6 xmtr with the J37 straight key. I used the 756Pro3 on the higher bands with a JH Bunnell straight key I rescued from an SK's estate years ago. 73 and looking forward to next month!

George N3GJ #8797

From Bill W4CUX, SKCC #5497T

Lots of fun. I wound up splitting my time between K3Y and the WES. Lots of signals. Fun on multiple bands. Till next time.

From Greg WA1VIL, SKCC #443T

Used my NOS navy flameproof that was a Christmas gift. Was thrilled to work Walt LW3EX with 5 watts at this end.I did run 100W to work Phil in Alaska for K3Y but obviously didn't count the QSO for the WES. It was terrific to hear so many stations on and to work stations with 8000 series SKCC numbers-my how this has grown! Thanks to all for the fun and see you next time or hopefully before!

From Curt WA2JSG, SKCC #3018T

I didn't run QRP on this WES as I usually do, but rather 75 watts, alternating between my IC-7000 & IC-7200. Only HF antenna I currently have is a Butternut vertical (elevated). English Kent and Bencher Straight Keys. Fun event, as always. Busy month for SKCC'ers.

From Mark W4UCZ, SKCC #3609T

Bonus points were due for any 40 meter operator who could

withstand the RTTY carper-bombing on 40 meters.

Also, you gotta wonder about chicken-and-egging on other

bands. I missionaried 15 meters after KL8DX showed up for

about 20 minutes but nobody turned up.

But love the Sprints. Major fun with no pressure.

Was running my usual Superstation Setup of a K3 into

a 55' random wire up 10' feet.

Have been off the air since August while in process of moving to neighboring county. Finally got a vertical up this week at the new place. Only had a little time to operate in WES but certainly was nice to do it again. Plus we have the K3Y operation this month. SKCC is really an enjoyable club. Happy New Year to all! 73, George K4GM

From Emil WD4SCZ, SKCC #556T

I always hated contests, but I look forward to the WES. I think the fact that it is laid back and not cutthroat competition that makes it appealing.

From Wayne W4CJV, SKCC #7043T

It's becoming my favorite time of the year!!!

From Eliot KE0N, SKCC #256T

I operated /4 from Cordova (Memphis), TN for WES. I strung a 100 ft long-wire between trees at my sister's house and ran a 50 ft counterpoise along the ground. Sort of a lazy OCFD without a balun. I was able to match most bands except 17. I ran 15 watts, but still caused the (long expired) smoke detector to chirp. That was remedied by a new unit. I worked a few K3Y operators in the week before the sprint and a few during it. The sprint was a good time in spite of the RTTY Roundup. A great new year to all. 73.

I got on 20M for the last hour and had fun, it was great to hear all the activity. Happy New Year everyone!

Worked 2 stations as K3Y/EU during the WES, with my QRP station from my holiday QTH in Copenhagen, Denmark. The ones I worked were Gabor S57WJ and Alex PA1FOX. Could probably have worked more if I'd had time, but it wasn't a radio holiday :)

Limited time but lots of fun QRPing. Rig: TenTec Orion @ 5

watts, rotating dipole on 15 & 20 @ 35 feet. 20 was great, only a couple on 15 but K3Y/KL7! 72/73 Will K9FO

Many thanks to K3Y/KL7 for asking for QRP stations to work him on 15M. 4 watts into a Hustler 6BTV GP was amazing! Hope you had fun with the pileup Phil. 73 all and HNY. CUL. J

Almost forgot to submit this, being wrapped up in the K3Y frenzy!

I don't even remember the band condx, but I split between 20 and 40 meters with DSW 20 and DSW 40 twins. Nice to have QSO's with familiar calls, and also with some very new members... glad they have joined in the fun. A casual effort with 8 QSOs.. but it was fun as they were spread thru the day on Sunday. 72/73 for now. Peter

Enjoyed the very active band and group of SKCC members who were active. Sorry on those weak or qrp stations that I could not pull out or others lost in the qsb/qrn.

From VERN W9HLY, SKCC #6672T

Enjoyable for what time I had.

From Les WB5JWI, SKCC #5013T

Only got to be on air for about an hour and a half total but it was fun.
